Comments:
I bought this machine at a local consignment auction. It required a complete teardown and rebuild. It came with the factory fence and cutterhead guard. It also included a weird insert type cutter that replaces the spindle. I purchased a new motor from The Surplus Center in Lincoln NE, a good source for such stuff, and they're online. I bought a heavy duty toggle switch but will replace it with a mag starter later. I'm also in the process of building a mobile base. When this unit was manufactured the molds must have been getting old. If you look carefully the "o" in J A Fay & Egan Co did not survive the casting process.
Also, the top exhibits a strange pattern of machining marks, kind of a graph paper type pattern. There's an outfit here locally that does laser metal cutting so I had them make a set of wrenches for the spindle. Because of the uncommon spindle size I've found some good deals on tooling. Stil I'm able to use 1 1/4 tooling with a bushing.
