This TS was purchased new by my grandfather and is still in the family.
This thing is massive and built to last. The base itself is a framework of cast iron (which you can see the corners of in the photos below) that is covered with thick steel sheets. It has a 30" x 36" cast iron top and a cast iron fence that rides on 2 indexed rectangular bars. It also has a cast iron chute that surrounds the blade to protect the motor and gears from saw debris. The blade was driven by two 3-belt pulleys which run on "sealed-for-life" ball-bearings.
Some time in the 80's the original motor burned out, so my grandpa "fit" a motor he had using plywood shims. The 3-belt pulley did not fit on the "new" motor so the TS now runs on one belt.
Besides a bit of surface rust, it is still in very good working order. It will be fully restored in the near future with a new 3 HP motor onto which the original pulley will fit.

1)close-up of chute (white paper was put in background to see chute better). 2) close-up of fence that rides on 2 indexed rectangular bars (...hummm, now where have I seen such a system before?)
