These are shots of the Oliver type 2 miter gauges. These came with the model 232, 270, and 290 tables saws and the 287 shaper (at least occaisionally). I'm sure it came with other machines as well. At 11" across this gauge is slightly smaller than the number 1 gauge that came with the models 60, 88, and 260 and it has no provisions for the cut off stop rod. The earlier saws came with sets of two miter gauges and a horseshoe connector that turned them into a cut off sled. Each gauge was specially fitted to the miter slot. The slots in the saw table were stamped 1 for the left slot and 2 for the right. The gauges were correspondingly stamped on both the body and the bar as 1 and 2 and the bars were also stamped near the end with the saws serial number. Today it seems rare to find a saw that has all of its original gauges with serial numbers matching. The set shown here is a matched set of gauges but the serial numbers are not for the saw shown. Unfortunately I do not have the horseshoe connector. If I ever find one I will likely have to take out a mortgage to buy it!
