This Hall & Brown #33 planer is in a pottery studio in Dallas, and the owner is looking to sell it. He got the machine with the studio, which used to be part of a museum. It hasn't run in years, but has very little rust and even the belts are present. The original paint job is mostly intact! Very Victorian looking, so I'd give my best guess that it's an 1890's machine.
The planer says "No. 291" in script on the front. H&B didn't have a model number that high until the 1920's, so I don't know what this designates. The machine is a perfect match for a #33 in the 1904 catalog. Given a motor, new belts, and a thorough cleaning, this could be back in service very quickly. Well--as long as the babbitt bearings don't need to be repoured.
