Gentlemen,

Here is a "missing link" in the Unisaw quest. 1, 1940 Delta (not Rockwell) Unisaw with a 4 digit serial number on the miter gage. This saw is equipped with a solid base rather than 4 feet like 1939 models. Also the base casting has a LSR prefix on the part number, not the LTA prefix common to Unisaw parts (this is correct according to the old owners manuals posted on this sight). This may suggest the Delta had started production of some heavy duty shaper parts in 1940.

Based on the tags on the machine we can infer that the machine was purchased from Star Machinery in Seattle Washington, and some how found its way to Oklahoma. The Boeing aircraft tags from Wichita KS lead me to believe that Boeing may have been the original owner and that it was sold after many years of service. The motor shows evidence of being rewound at least 4 times and the table is 0.07" thinner than it should be in the miter slots. She has had a hard life. Interestingly, the worms and racks show almost no ware and the saw was full of aluminum cuttings when I purchased it.

If anyone knows the history of a WWII era Boeing facility in the Seattle area, I would love to know what this saw might have made there.

The saw has been restored, note that the fence, dust door, and switch are not original to the saw.
