My 83 year year old Dad and I drove to the Carmel Valley California to get this old timer( I don't know who's tougher the drill press or him). It came with the original "How to get the most out of your drill press" book. The owner (who purchased it new) had passed away some 25 years ago.Since that time drill press had been stored at Point Lobos, and some other islands that the owners daughter had mentioned. I think the motor had been changed to a Sears Companion motor at some point. The power chord was cracked from the coastal weather, and the exposed metal parts had a lot of surface rust from the salt air. Even so I plugged it in and it ran quiet, and the chuck/spindle ran perfectly true. After some research I found out that vinegar, salt with Scotchbrite works really well for heavy surface rust removal. The paint is in good shape considering what it has been through, so I will try to save it.
