Comments:
I am wondering if anybody can shed any light on my mortising machine. It was owned by my Great Uncle, who fought in WW1, so is quite an age, possibly going back to the 19th Century. I remember as a boy (I am now 58!) watching "Uncle Jack" cut mortices in seconds using this machine.
I have a set of mortise chisels to go with it.
I can find no sign of manufacturer's markings in the castings based on a quick scan, but I could have missed something.
If it would help, I can add more detailed photographs, measurements, description etc.
p.s. I am new to this group, so hope I am following the correct procedure!
Thanks in advance -- Peter
2015-10-12 I have found a manufacturer's mark, shown in a photo I have just added. It is "W JACKSON MAKER AND PATENTEE LEEDS" (Leeds = Yorkshire, UK) This isn't listed as one of the known manufacturers. I have added a few more photos, including the set of chisels I have.
