I purchased this machine in the winter of 2004-2005 in Bristol, TN. The seller had gotten it with a sawmill he had purchased. It is my second, and smallest Sweepstakes machine, so I refer to it as "Junior". Junior is a 3 sided planer with a 4th molding cutterhead on the outfeed end. He can surface up to 20" width, 6" thickness, and can match (surface 3 sides) up to 8 1/2" width. Speeds are 33 and 45 feet per minute. 1897 catalog weight is 3000lbs.
This is the second of the two Sweepstakes planer/matchers I own. I only know of one other, which is owned by Patrick Haire of Humboldt, KS, and is in daily use in his woodworking business. I plan a full restoration of this machine.
