Comments:
I was given this wood lathe and drive motor by my brother-in-law, who had no use for them. Both were well-used, rusty, grimy, and covered with cobwebs and old sawdust. I have restored them. I have no idea who the original owner might have been. I had thought this machine was built in the early 1950's, but I saw, elsewhere on this website, a 1976 catalog from American Machine & Tool Co. that advertised this very machine for $49.10 new. I used a cutting board to create a sliding motor mount, which can be seen in photo #3. The dead center pin was missing from the tailstock. Following a tip from a woodworker's forum, I used a common brass bushing and a 5/8" countersink bit to create a live center, which can be seen in photo #4.
