This bandsaw was used in a wood working shop in Columbus Ohio for many years. I purchased it for $40 at a garage sale that the original owners son was holding. He had inherited it from his father about 20 years ago and had used it at his house before he decided to sell it. The saw was in good condition but did need a number of repairs due to its age. I completely dismantled and repainted the machine removing some minor surface rust it had. I also put in new bearings all around including modern ceramic thrust ones. The saw did come with an original motor but I changed it out for a modern one that boosted the power from a half horse to one. I do plan on having the original motor restored at some point in the future but since I do plan on using this tool in my shop I wanted to to have a new motor that I could trust. I also replaced the power switch with one that is easier to use in case of emergency. I now really understand why these early Delta bandsaws are so sought after, this is a wonderfully running tool that sounds great and has really no vibration. The stand is also an original one from Delta that is made of very thick materials. I was also very lucky in that it came with a Delta "Retirement" light that I have learned is worth more than I paid for the entire saw. I really look forward to adding this machine to my shop and hope to enjoy it for many years.
