22nd July, 2015. I think this is a Preston. The cast name is partially hidden behind a guard (see 4th photograph), but the top wheel hub looks very much like that in the diagram of a 36" bandsaw in the "Images" index. This is not mine. It's in a building that's due for demolition.
15th September, 2015. As from today this is mine - and it IS a Preston.
Fitted with a Westinghouse 400v 3phase 50hz electric motor. It was purchased new by New Zealand Government Railways, at a cost of £117 7s 11d (that's New Zealand pounds), and installed in the Pattern Shop at the Hutt Railway Workshops (Wellington, New Zealand) in Feb. 1929. After the Pattern Shop (and Foundry) were closed in Feb. 1987 it was moved to the Maintenance Shop (formerly the Coppersmiths Shop). The Maintenance Shop is due for demolition starting 18th September 2015.
17th February, 2016. Started cleaning up the table today, in preparation for refitting to the saw. Found "SERIAL 2156" stamped in the top LH corner.

At least I think it's a "Preston" - the rest of the lettering is hidden behind a guard.

I found this logo behind one of the guards, while stripping the machine down for transport.
