Comments:
I acquired this machine about twenty years ago. The seller told me that it had previously been used in a boatyard. The lower wheel shaft runs in a babbitt bearing poured in a cast iron cradle. The upper wheel is fitted with a tapered roller bearing, but I do not know if that was original to the machine, or a later addition. I think it is complete except for being fitted with tires and blade. My understanding is that guards were optional when this machine was made.
