I picked this shaper up after answering an ad in the local paper for Cherry Lumber and a Tablesaw. The tablesaw was a newer model Craftsman without a motor and the pile of lumber was beautiful but more $$ than I was prepared to spend. The shaper was in front of the saw so I offered her $50. She was happy just to get it out of her garage. It had all belonged to her late husband and she was getting tired of walking around it. (She had already gotten rid of alot of equipment at a number of garage sales, unbeknownst to me.) The shaper has a 3/4 hp Craftsman motor (maybe off the saw?!?) and doesn't lack power. I had to have the broken fence welded and I put new bearings in the arbor but all told I have less than $100 in the whole thing. The best part is, a month or so later she called me back and told me since I was honest enough to tell her what the lumber was worth and didn't take advantage of her, she'd sell me the whole pile of cherry for about half what it was worth. We all walked away smiling. The only downfall I've found with this shaper is the hole in the table is only 2" and cutters are a bit harder to find. Incidently, the other Duro Shaper posted by Eduardo Fisher on this site has a serial number one off from mine, his is C91PN and mine is C91PO, maybe they only changed them once a year..... anybody out there have one to compare??
