for the last 5 years i look on internet,on newspaper adds,on e-bay and all over the place to find a poitras 4800 12``jointer.BINGO!!!! i finally got one.
the jointer is 12in. with a 3 hp GE 220 volts 3500 rpm it transmit the power via a three belts pulley to the 4 3/4 head with 3 knifes on it.the shipping weight is a 1000 pounds without motor,it's all cast iron just the front door must weight 40 pounds.
I found the jointer in the local newspaper adds in an add not bigger than a postal stamp
like if the seller don't want anybody to see it.
The jointer was in a 4 men kitchens cabinet shop for 15 years in 1988 it was replace by a bigger one (20 inches) and sold to the guy i bought from;he use it for 6 years in a woodworking evening school but get tired of working day and night and close the school in 1994,the jointer never work again after that because he have bigger one and all his electric system is on 550 volts,it take 10 tears and the need of more space for new machinery to decide to let it go.I just send the motor to a electric shop for checkup and cleaning; they fix a few things:new bearings, machined the shaft, machined the pulley, inspect the motor and give me a 2 years garanty on it.Now i'am ok for the next 50 years
