These were designed and built originally by the manufacturer for making of crates for the things they sold. It became a successful product in the '20's and through the 30's sales slacked off. It was originally made to be a cross cutting machine and marketed to house carpenters. Seemingly it was not intended as a fine woodworking machine. This one, acquired at a nearby estate sale, has a rip fence with it and no fence for cross cutting that I could find. The blade is pulled toward you through the work but ripping must have been accomplished by blocking it up at a certain height. The wood blocks inside must have been used for that and also as a stop for the motor and arbor assembly in the released position. The motor is by Master and is a single phase, 1 hp. It uses a flat belt which is supposed to slip if the blade jams. There is a pedal mechanism for lifting it so it can roll on the two wheels underneath. No blade was on it. The arbor is mostly 3/4" except near the inner flange where there is a lip at 7/8". The outer flange is hollowed toward the center so the flanges fit together but it seems a blade must be bored to 7/8". The table and leg / cabinet assembly is heavy pressed steel. The motor mount / arbor assembly is cast iron. It's pretty heavy.
