Right now this is NOT my machine, but sits with some other odds-n-ends woodworking machines. The machine has a Kingston-Connelly motor hanging from her belly and a cloth belt (1.5" wide) runs from the motor to a flat pulley on the spindle end. The motor pulley is 10-ish"; the arbor pulley is less than 2".
The machine features a lever that forces travel of the stock towards the right, with a maximum travel of no more that 1". A spring automatically returns the clamped stock to the left and back to the starting position. A lever in the very front of the machine activates a face clamp, pushing and holding stock forward. The maximum opening for the clamp is about 1.5"
Patent info lists this as a Slat Slotter and suggests that it was developed for the manufacturing of venetian blinds. http://www.datamp.org/patents/search/advance.php?pn=2291761&id=41913&set=9 There's not too much info out there on Unit Electric's line of products.

A rubber bellows or boot shrouds the cutter. A spring keeps it normally close to the cast iron window that the cutter travels in.
