Yet another Delta Model 890 14" bandsaw recently bought by fellow woodworker Tim Jackson from "an older gentleman in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, who hadn't used it in a while." It was hard to tell from the initial Craig's List ad (Photo 1 below) what Tim was getting himself into - it seemed to be mounted onto some sort of home made base. After the previous owner sent two additional photos (2 & 3 below) we could tell that it was actually bolted to an original Model 891 (welded leg) steel stand, with a repulsion-induction motor, knife switch and pull rod. This saw turned out to be an all original (including the badly faded paint) World War II era machine with a 1/2 h.p. Delta R-I motor.
Some of the many 'extras' that came with this sale were a couple of dull blades, that sheet metal saw dust tray you see in Photo 1, three different sized pulleys bolted to the stand (Photo 3), and (of course) the optional mouse nest hidden behind the lower blade guard (LOL). Surprisingly, this old work horse still runs, but she'll be getting a much needed complete restoration before cutting any more wood.
