Comments:
This boiler carcass is in Lake George, Colorado. I know it is not a locomotive boiler, instead it is some kind of a "locomotive type" industrial boiler. This thing is laying in a junk pile and local folklore says it was going to be used as part of a spillway for the lake. It was drug many years ago to where it lays today from up river somewhere. Well, Lake George has never had any type of industry here except for a large ice house operation. I suspect this unit was left over from that business. Other than that, the only thing might have been a mine further up river. I have an old photo of that mine and you can see conductors on pole coming from an old building.
I would like any info on this boiler that I can get. Does anyone recognize this thing? It's tube length is 170 inches while its diameter is 43 inches. The firebox is 60 inches which makes the overall length 230 inches.
Please email any info to me at: steve675@centurytel.net Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Steve Plutt
