Champion Blower & Forge – No.101 (my 2nd CB&F No.101)
Single-speed. Complete, except for the feed-wheel handle. The column is not original, but is an extra long modification – being a full 35-inches long.
I bought this post drill two days ago (23 Feb 2015), and picked it up yesterday. It’s in good working order and came with a handful of genuine blacksmiths (S&D) bits.
The seller said it came from their family farm at Rapanui, near Wanganui, North Island, New Zealand. When the farm was sold some thirty-odd years ago he kept the post drill – using it occasionally since then.
The column is 1 5/16” diameter and solid. The flywheel is 12“ diameter.
Run of feed = 3 3/16"; dia. of spindle = 7/8"; crank gear has 46 teeth; spindle gear has 24 teeth; flywheel shaft gear has 20 teeth. Drills to the centre of a 12” circle.
