I purchased this saw from a farmer in Hawkins county for $70 in 2006. I was drawn to the form of these old De Walts and wanted it immediately. The machine was rough with light rust all over but was complete so I went for. I built a new table and started using it as is. The motor gave out after a couple of months of use. I wanted to restore it but had to many furniture projects I was working on for others so I put it under a bench with the intent to restore it some day. Nine years later I pulled it out and started the restoration. I matched the paint to a patch on the underside that had not faded and started from there. Below are pictures of the finished product. I put the saw on an old table stand. I thought it would look cool and more like something from the 50's. There are two holes on the blade guard as seen below and two next to the name tag above the guard in the same photo. I've never seen these on anoth saw from this vintage. If anyone knows what they are for I'd like to know. Thanks!
