I purchased this Atlas MFC milling machine in January of 2014. It spent its entire life in the instrument shop of the Physics Dept. at Carleton College, in Northfield, Minnesota. The college was also selling an Atlas 10" lathe and Atlas shaper. All three had been purchased in 1948 when the instrument shop was started. The milling machine was in really good condition when I bought it, but I decided to take it apart and clean off the years of grease and oil, readjust everything, and replace the bearings and belts, as well as a few small missing parts.

The milling machine as it looked when I first brought it home. No real damage or abuse, just a layer of hardened oil.
