I found this machine on Craigalist for $60. When I purchased it I ran the machine and the bearings sounded good and the quill did not have any travel so I took it home. The machine had a far amount of rust and grime so I decided to break the machine down to give it a good cleaning and new paint. After looking into the machine and finding manuals and publication on this site I found that according to the tag number the drill press is listed as a bench model. The machine is also supposed to have a metal plate under the tag and the name Sprunger raised on the body of the press. I'm not sure if this is a combination of a NDP-15 and a NPF-51. The body matches a NPF-51. I also found that the spindle pulley is not the original and has 3 steps instead of four to match the original pulley that is on the motor. The spindle pulley also has larger diameters for slower speeds.
After everything was cleaned up greased and put back together it runs nice for having all the original bearings. I am running the spindle pulley that came with the press for now. The top three speeds work well enough for wood. Eventually I would like to get a four speed closer to the original sizes.
