My son brought this home from fellow OWWMer, Tim Smith. After truing up the pulley and the chuck plus cleaning the innards, installing a new switch and belt, this machine works very smoothly and quietly. There is a slight rattle from the driven pulley because of the rather crude keyway. It uses a 3/8 in belt and the speeds go from 1000 to 3000 rpm. All sleeve bearings except for an open thrust bearing right above the chuck. Its rather awkward and unbalanced until bolted to a wide board or bench. Not the best drill press in the world, but adequate. The motor cranks up and down to match the four step motor pulley to the two step driven pulley. The column is 2 in. in diameter.
