Purchased in an online auction of surplus equipment from the City of Philadelphia. This grinder was used in Walter B. Saul High School located in NW Philadelphia. Pictures provided by the auction company (1 and 2) showed a cast iron water cup which sadly was missing at time of pickup.
Includes original cast iron base/stand and the lighted tempered glass guards.
It appears this grinder was wired for 230v by the factory. At some point, the toggle switch which controlled the lighted guards was removed and there was a misguided attempt to rewire for 115v. The 15W bulbs in the left guard were also replaced with 25W bulbs, which may explain why the white and black leads were cracked/degraded for the left guard but not the right guard.
After jumping the relay to verify that the motor itself was operational, I cleaned all contacts and corrected the wiring.
The grinder runs very smoothly and quietly now.
