I aquired this saw about 25 years ago from a coworker - She said her husband would rather have the extra room in the garage than the saw. I gave her a few hundred bucks for the saw, made the wooden stand, replaced the tires, and put it into service for the last 20+ years. Although the saw still functioned fine, I decided to give it a facelift by sandblasting, repaint, new tires, new bearings, etc.. I'm lucky enough to own two of these fine saws, so I decided to turn this one into a saw with added resaw capability by adding a longer saw guide post, and welding together a 6" extension tube out of 3/8" steel plate for between the base and the upper arm. With its 1 HP Rockwell motor and a sharp wide resaw blade, this saw will now easily handle resawing duties in up to 12" wide hardwood materials (the unmodified stock height cutting capacity is 6" on the standard saw). There is very little you could complain about when discussing the design and function of these early Delta 14" band saws. If you find one at a reasonable price, buy it.
