8-11-2014 What a surprise! I was helping my friend Robert fetch a monster jointer that he purchased from the Colorado School of Mines, and in his garage I saw this neato drill press. I inquired about it, and he said that it was my thank-you gift. Cooool, sez I! It's the best trade I ever made: part of a day of gas and truck and trailer for a drill press. Life is great!
Based on serial number information found in this wiki, I date the machine in the 1953-56 range. It has a Driver Line 1/2 hp motor, no doubt original. The original pushbutton switch (Cutler-Hammer?) was replaced by a household switch, the poor table is badly tortured, and the green paint is badly done, but the DP is in extra-good condition in terms of what counts.
This is the first example of this item in the Photo Index. I look forward to cleaning it up and putting it to work.
10-15-2014 Finished restoration. Replaced both motor bearings, cleaned, repainted, lubricated. Ordered knobs for quill advance crank and nuts for depth gauge. Replaced wall switch with toggle switch and made new switch plate from 1/4" MDF. Came out nicely, I think. Repaired holes in table with JB Weld, but didn't like the look, so bolted on a laminate table which, in truth, will be more practical than the original table. If I need a DP vise, I'll use a different DP.
This is a very good machine.

Original condition of table. After patching with JBWeld it didn't look so great. Next time I'll try welding to fill the holes.
