This 1951 band saw was the property of my late great-uncle, Oliver "Ollie" Dykes, and was passed on to his nephew, my late stepfather, Thomas Dykes Shearer. I believe Ollie may have acquired it November 24, 1971, since he was always putting Dymo labels with a date on his tools and equipment. One label says it was reconditioned in August 1975. We do not from know whom, or where, Ollie bought it, although I suspect he may have bought it from the local high school he taught at if they were updating equipment in 1971.
