My father recently gave it to me. I had used it back in about 1972 to finish a chess set I was working on in Jr. High machine shop (not enough hours in shop class to make 32 pieces.) The pieces were turned from aluminum (brushed aluminum finish) and steel (black oxide finish.) I used it a few times after that when I was in High School, but haven't touched it since. My dad had used it a few times after that but probably hadn't touched it for 15 years or more.
My father purchased it from a friend in the early 50's, who had purchased it from the original owner sometime in the late 40's. The original owner had a hobby woodshop and a hobby machine shop and had to downsize. The second owner had to move out of state so he sold it to my dad.
I have cleaned it some, and I had to pull the spindle to replace the belt (original, was almost broken through). Otherwise it is as it was when I pulled it out of my father's garage. The lathe is loaded with accessories*, but I can't find the manual or the knurling tool, and it never had the taper bar (something I would have liked to have had when I was cutting the tapers on the chess pieces.)
* Three and four jaw chucks; brass jaw chuck; cutoff tool; threading tool; left, right and center tool holders; carriage turret tool holder; micrometer carriage stop; turret type boring set; follower rest; 6" and 8-1/2" faceplates with dogs; crotch center; dead center; live center; angle plate; pipe center; boring tools and holder; various chucks with morse taper; standard tailstock; lever type tailstock; tailstock turret; morse taper and feed through spindles. Still has original motor (had original belts until I just replaced them.)
