I picked this one up off a fellow selling a steel cabinet I was looking for. After making the deal on the cabinet and bs-ing for a bit it turned out he had some other stuff he was selling. Some of which he had gotten off his father. This was one of the other bits. The long drive turned out to be more than worth it. At some point during the last 70 years someone decided to slapa coata paint oner. A bit of a drag since I love original finishes. Just the same it was long enough ago that it has taken on another aged patina. I will likely clean up the bare metal parts, table stem and handles etc and leave the rest. Though I really appreciate perfectly restored and repainted tools like this if they are not done perfectly they end up looking like my grandmother with too much make-up. Cool original patinas take years to make and are extremely hard to fake. Mind you that is just the artist in me talking. At some point I may use this as a trader towards the delta or similar direct drive 12" disc sander I am trying to track down. I am always amazed at how butter smooth these vintage tools run.

Another barn find beauty for the collection. The motor is not original but an older westinghouse.

Someone added the switch and light. May clean that up or just leave it.

It did have a new looking homemade belt guard when I got it but that had to go. Here it is still covered in a nice layer of woodshop wood dust for that extra barn find feel.
