I acquired the double spindle shaper from the third or fourth owner, Trojan Yacht oldest owner known. The shaper was retired sometime in the 1970's, given to an employee. The machine sat outside under a tarp for approximately 18 years, a project never begun. The next owner also had aspirations of restoring the shaper, never started the restoration. I acquired the machine in July 2014, 96 years after creation. After sand blasting the paint, rust and, crud, new paint has made the machine look brighter again. Unbelievably, the bearings spun freely and true. I converted to a v-belt pulley system, easier to purchase v-belts. The manufacturing date was located on the inside of the small front cover plate with the No. 9, a hand stamped s/n was also on the inside of the plate. The spindles were 1.375" in diameter, not an available size according to the manual. A friend turned the spindles to a size that is more usable, 0.75" at the top and 1.25" at the lower end. I found a used Powermatic power feeder, a welcome addition. The PO and his wife were happy to part with the machine for $200, I'm happy to have it!
