I picked this non-descript motor up at the local Restore store in Roseville CA as a cheap ($25) replacement upgrade for my Craftsman band saw that came with a 1/4 HP motor. The motor is so smooth and quiet you hardly realize when it is running. As I was cleaning up the motor for repainting, I realized that the aluminum would really polish up nicely. Although I went against my natural tendencies to want to restore close to the original, I think the results enhance the art deco style of the motor. However, now I'll have to build a stand for the band saw that doesn't hide the motor.
