I had gone to pick up a WF & John Barnes Co Drill Press and while in one of the owners barns I spotted this old Monarch table saw. I might add this older gentlemen has three barns full of old wood/metal working machines; I felt like a kid in a candy store. I stayed and talked to him for over an hour, taking the tour.
OK back to the table saw. I have gone through the 1928-35 catalogs on our site and found references to an X-17 model but no X17-22 model. Those models shown do not match this entry. The table elevation arm is longer, has a four spoked wheel and does not match the catalogs versions. In the 1923 catalog there are a number of smaller saw' which utilize the same type of extended arm and wheel but again they do not match this saw.
There is no motor attached but in photo 5 a foot peddle can be seen, which I was told, attached to the motor pulley in some way.
The owner said he recalls using many of these tools with his father, as a young person, but was unable to offer a lot of history.
Note: The original entry was on 11/8/12 but due to problems with getting restoration photo's to upload to the original entry I deleted it and posted a new entry.
