Bought this from a guy locally who didn't know anything about its history except that he got it from his father in law.
No serial number found. I'm guessing at the model number.
I built the guard for it making my very first pattern and sending it to Cattail Foundry to be cast from aluminum. It is not a faithful replication of the original, rather it is just a design that I came up with since the original had more moving parts and I had no pattern to work from. It was a great learning experience.
I built the stand of MDF patterned after some of my favorite stands for older larger jointers. The proportions aren't the same since this is a "portable" jointer with somewhat abbreviated tables, but I liked it anyway. The column in back is simple but adds support for the motor and provides a chute for chips.
It's a 1/2HP 3600 RPM R/I motor. The brushes were running on their shunts so I sands down a set from an elevator door motor to fit.
I duplicated the Wallace nameplate for the stand by applying RTV to the name on the front of the jointer. Paste was kept it from sticking to the paint. When cured I peeled it off and mixed up some Durham's Water Putty and poured it into the silicone mold. Glued alit to the stand and painted everything.
