I have been needing a large saw for ripping solid lumber. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and he gave me this J. A. Fay & Egan 511B . He had used it years ago and when he replaced it it was just set aside. The wiring in the motor had lost all of its insulation so I had it re-wired and at the same time the bearings and brushes were replaced and the shaft polished. All of that cost about $175.00, which is most of what I have in it. Other than a few cans of paint, a few nuts and bolts and a lot of elbow grease I have less than $250.00 in the whole thing. I bought a piece of 1 1/2"X 1/2" bar steel 7' long and made a new guide for the fence to ride on. The old one was bent, and only 48" long. It works as good as any that I ever used and I can cut plywood off at 54".

I had to go under the floor and ad some extra support for this saw.

In these photos the splitter/blade guard is swung up out of the way.

Thanks to Mike & David for helping me get a blade guard. This works better than any I have ever used. I can rip 22" wide with the splitter in place and 54" (cutting plywood) with it removed
