I bought it at a estate sale and children said Dad turned 6 1/2" porch posts with it.
The lathe has a 6", 12" ,24" and a 36" tool rest plus a bowl turning attachment.
I cut 2' off of the ways because they were cracked had been chiseled and sawed on.
I sanded a lot of white paint off of the ways to find the wood is Old CHESTNUT.
The rare line shaft assembly was mounted on wall and drove the head stock with a flat belt and the head stock driven with a motor mounted above that and driving the line shaft 4 " V pulley with a V belt.
I have another one ,in my shop, just like it that was driven thru a line shaft and by a Ford model A pick up, out side the barn, with bed removed and flat belt drove the rear wheel ,without a tire on it.
