This Holtzapffel lathe is one of a few examples of a Holtzapffel lathe not intended for ornamental turning. The original owner had this lathe made and stamped with the same number that his 2196 ornamental lathe had so that the chucks and accessories would match. This lathe has the smoothest and treadle operation (something Holtzapffel was known for). I have used this lathe for small projects in turning iron, brass and hard wood with ease. Of the foot powered lathes I have used I would rate this lathe superior.
