Came attached to a lathe. It was rather unimpressive looking but being an old USA made piece with cast iron bells it was worthy of some attention. Probably an economy priced motor with sleeve bearings split phase and no paint on inside of bells. Some time in history owner added switch but located it a bit too high on plate as it interferes with screw slot. I needed a quick project and this worked out well. Now I like it because it's pretty and runs smooth and real quiet. I used to think a person wanted new motors for safety and reliability but that was before this web site group let me see the error in my ways. As you can see in the photos the inner parts like the windings are as new being coated at manufacture as are all motors. It seems that wire doesn't wear out after all.
