I do not own this lathe. Pictures and description taken from a Craigslist ad (with seller's permission).
The machine was originally an overhead belt driven unit. Some past owner has retrofitted and fabricated a nice motor base plate on the rear of the machine and outfitted the spindle shaft with step pulleys to create a multispeed unit. The machine has split-brass bearings with aux. oilers mounted above the bearing blocks. The overall size of the lathe is 74" long, 41-1/2" from the floor to the centerline of the spindle shaft, 36" deep overall including the motor mount. The business end of the spindle has 1-1/2" diameter 8tpi threads. The toolrest post receiver hole is 1" diameter. The tail stock quill has over 6" of travel. I have a couple different tool rests for the lathe as well.
The machine currently has a 1/2 HP 102v Emerson motor and I have another 1/2 HP baldor motor to go with it. The motor has a 3" pulley on the shaft. The spindle has 4 pulleys on it: 5", 4", 3" and 2" diameter. I have turned large (6") legs out of cherry with the machine with no problems of stalling. The spindle has a large cast iron flywheel on it for momentum which I would credit this to.
This machine is wonderful to use and is built like a tank.
