I bought this off CL as part of a combo unit. As I recall, the owner said that he got it from his dad's friend. The No. 300 4" jointer was Delta's first jointer, only made for two years before being replaced by the No. 301. The key identifying feature of this model of jointer is the angle scale on the fence adjustment mechanism. The fence only tilts back 45 degrees. All subsequent models tilt 45 degrees both forward and back.
This is in excellent condition, with original paint, original Delta decal, and seemingly all original parts. Only light surface rust exists, and I have found no pitting anywhere. Although running well when I bought it in 2014, I have taken it down all the way for a complete cleaning and new bearings.
This was advertised as containing bronze bushings that required oiling. However, in the late 1931 catalog, a note exists that the jointer can be ordered with ball bearings for an additional $2.00. Mine pictured below has ball bearings. Both bearings were Federal brand with no identifying model number. The pulley side requires an 87502, while the other side has the same, but with a bushing to bring the bearing's bore down to 9/16".
Motor running the unit is a Century repulsion-induction 1/2-HP motor of the same era.
This jointer was the predecessor to the long line of Delta/Homecraft 22-110 series of jointers. It appears that nearly all parts are interchangeable.
