I bought this mortiser from Crown Assets Disposal in Canada. It was used in the woodworking shop at the Cdn. Air Force base at Trenton, Ontario. When I picked it up I asked about tooling, and came away with a full set of bushings, chisels and bits for my trouble -- a nice bonus. The machine is a light-duty mortiser ideal for a small custom shop. It's based on a drill press design as is obvious from the photos, but adds a very beefy and smooth x-y table that is raised and lowered with a foot pedal. What makes this design extra serviceable, though, is that a) the bit & chisel can also be lowered into the work using the spindle feed handle, just like a drill press, perhaps for greater control than with raising the table (and work) into the chisel, and b) 5 spindle speeds allow for adapting to different wood densities and mortise sizes. Overall, a very high quality machine. Better photos to follow soon...
