OWWM thread on this machine here: http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=147039
Manufactured to sharpen cutters for the Landis Bolt Cutter, a threading machine.
This grinder had been purchased as part of a number of tools sold as one lot from an auto engine shop which had been closed for years. It appears only the left hand grinder wheel had been in use with the tool rest. The 12" diam. 2" thick left- side grinding stone wheel had been replaced with a 9" x 1" modern wheel. The cross-slide table with articulated work holder appears not to have been in use. It is intact and functions perfectly. The right hand plate-mounted grinding stone is square and flat and in excellent condition. All original oil ports are present and functioning. Babbitt bearings seem to be in good shape.
I plan to replace the 9" wheel with a 12" x 2" one. I will fashion a drive pulley for a 1750 rpm motor shaft to run the grinder with the leather belt which is still on the machine. I plan to use it to sharpen woodworking tools and machine knives.
