I found this wheel plane in junk condition in an online ad in Manitoba and had trouble communicating with the owner. Dan Gillespie bought a foot mortiser from the same seller, so he paid for the wheel plane at the same time and took it home for me. There was some discussion of on the forum here: http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112652&p=985127#p985127 and here http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81011 . It was bigger and heavier that Canada Post's maximum, so he decided to take it apart. It was so rusted that it took about 6 months of soaking in penetrating oil to get the wheel to come off so it could be shipped. I have since taken it apart completely and sandblasted and painted it and polished up the table and the wheel. The original handles were rotted off so I made new handles. The blades are pitted so bad that they can't be sharpened and should be replaced, along with the rust-eroded rods that hold the blade caps. The wings on the wingnut holding the guide on the table broke off during disassembly and had to be replaced. It's starting to look presentable again.
