Comments:
Purchased from a house clearer in London. It came with a belt but without any driving assembly.

The Source for serial number dating is Tony Griffith at http://www.lathes.co.uk/drummond/page18.html

This date is also indicated by the headstock bearings which are bored directly into the headstock cast and this type was introduced in 1919/1920 (Source lathes.co.uk).

The cross slide is not original I believe.

The Drummond manufacturer plate is different from most others I've seen as it is in portrait format and lists a number of Drummond's patents - the more usual plate is landscape and simpler and fits partly over the dog clutch. I have seen one other roundbed of similar vintage (serial 2417) with this portrait style plate. This lathe has complete set of change wheels rising in 4s.
