This is an example of one of the very first Delta 6" jointers. Labeled as a #654 on a #656 steel stand. It has the short bed and a somewhat different fence casting than the later models. Somewhere around 37 the metal tags began to be placed on these instead of the decal and the fence was soon changed as well. I bought this along with several other tools of the same period from a fellow in upstate NY. It seems to be in fair condition considering it's age and should make a good restoration project in the near future. It appears that the only missing part is the original motor and belt guard. If anyone knows where I might find these, please let me know. Thanks for any help you can give. I will add more photos when the restoration is more complete.
