This DP was delivered to me in January 2014. It was said to have lived in a wood working shop all of its life and there is no evidence to the contrary. According to the serial number decoder it was built in 1975. It came with one issue that I knew of and one that I strongly suspected; rust around the bottom of the base and a Jacobs #100 center rest chuck. The chuck is a special purpose chuck made for armature work in a lathe; the brass jaws were not suitable for my purposes. Thankfully, after going through the machine, no major surprises were found. The greases were mostly dried up so the appropriate parts were cleaned and lubricated. The rusty areas of the base were cleaned and the entire base primed and repainted. The non-original (I suspect) GE, 1725 rpm motor was replaced with a NOS Baldor 1140 rpm unit. An Albrecht 1/32” – ½” chuck replaced the Jacobs. The rest of the machine was left original. The original belt (again, I suspect) was inspected and dressed and works fine. The remains of the “18 month warranty” sticker remain. All in all, a very nice, smooth running example of a mostly original Powermatic 1150. The spindle run out is 0.00075” and the run out with the Albrecht chuck and a dowel pin installed is 0.0020”.
