This is a WALKER TURNER "ADD-A-TOOL" MACHINE which was sold in the late 1930's. The idea was to allow the purchaser to buy a basic 7-1/2" x 30" WOOD LATHE and then add various components including a 7" TABLE SAW, with rip fence and miter gauge, GRINDER and BUFFING ATTACHMENTS, A COMPOUND SLIDE REST for Metalworking a STEADY REST, a JOINTER SHAPER FENCE AND TABLE, a MORTICE ATTACHMENT, FENCE AND HOLD DOWN and a MULTI-SPEED MOTOR BRACKET. A metal bench with casters was available with plenty of surface area to add a 500 SERIES JOINTER and BAND SAW, or JIG SAW which would be driven by the same motor by means of a FLEXIBLE SHAFT. A WOODEN TOOL CABINET was also an optional accessory. I am fortunate enough to have the WOOD LATHE with DOUBLE TOOL REST, TABLE SAW with RIP FENCE, MITER GAUGE with REPEAT CUTTING GUIDE and BLADE GUARD with SPLITER, a JOINTER SHAPER FENCE AND TABLE, MORTICE ATTACHMENT with MORTICE FENCE AND HOLD DOWN and the MULTI-SPEED MOTOR BRACKET with a 1/2 HORSEPOWER WALKER TURNER MOTOR enabling 9 SPEEDS by using FOUR STEP PULLEYS and TWO "V" BELTS. Note the belt from motor bracket to headstock pulley was not installed when these photos were taken. I also have the original DRIVER LINE TABLE SAW BLADES, STACK DADO BLADE SET MORTICE HOLLOW CHISELS, SPUR CENTER, DEAD CENTER, FACE PLATE, SANDING DISC and WALKER TURNER REVERSING VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH. This machine was totally restored by AMERICAN MACHINE of Shelby NC and can be viewed under power in our museum
