Comments:
This little saw came from a production environment where it had been used more than 50 years. Factory personnel had made some rather unprofessional modifications to enable a greater depth of cut. Changes included drilling extra holes in the upper wheel cover to make it ride higher. I restored the saw to original condition and began using it regularly in October 2012. It has the original welded stand which bears the original label. Unfortunately the motor is not original, and I remain alert to the availability of a correct one for it. The shop made sheet metal belt guard is functional but unattractive.
All the bearings the tires, and the blade guides were replaced, the bare metal parts cleaned and polished, and the painted parts coated with Rustoleum Industrial Machinery Light Gray. (This not a perfect match for the old light gray Delta used, but it's the closest I've found.)
The 768 has the same table trunnion assembly as the larger 890 14" saw. I have installed the larger table from a 14" saw for convenience but have carefully stored the original table which is shown on the saw in the photos that follow.
