Comments:
Specification plate on motor indicates that it was manufactured by Domestic Electric. 1911 and 1919 patent dates are shown. I believe Domestic Electric was bought out in the late 1920's so if the motor is original, it suggests a manufacture date of very latest 1919 through the 1920's. The spec. plate also indicates that the motor is designed to run at 1200 RPM on 40 cycle current. It is indeed not happy trying to run on 60 cycle current. 40 cycle current, I believe was restricted to industrial applications in the Northeastern U.S. The green-gray paint appears to not be original. The deepest chips show that the original paint may have been a black crinkle finish. A plate attached to the base is stamped "F 48" I don't know if this is a serial number or a property tag affixed by a company that owned it.
