Machine acquired by Turtle Rod at a bowling alley built in Fresno in 1959.
This DP was there from beginning and is what they used to drill bowling ball finger holes.
Now this is salvaged from the torn down facility
Importantly, note the jackshaft that had the motor mounted upside down with additional pulley system jackshaft.
I have the same drill press that also had this nice jack shaft exactly like this.
Later I was to find a third party that also has this exact same set up (like mine, minus bowling ball table)
So we all now wonder if there was a some small cottage that made these, or was there a widely traveled Jackshaft fabricator.
In my original drill press post, the esteemed Carla wrote me that she thought it was a very nicely done Ho-made slow speed system.
I agreed at the time as did others. Now this is all held open to question.
Now that is it finished (shall we say "pimped the DP) the bottom photographs show that it was entirely stripped and powder coated, table and foot blanchard ground, column swapped out with the thicker and heavier column from a more modern 1100, as well as it's 1hp WT motor. Also from the more modern 1100 came better pulleys and the drive belt dimensioning plate. The remaining parts from the the presses went into making the nice heavy duty vise stand
