According to the raised letters [now gold leafed] in the casting on the face of the saw, this machine was made by the Pacific Manufacturing and Engineering Company, Mission Street, San Francisco, California. The age of the machine is a guess based on its style. The saw has dual bearings on the top wheel, which were replaced, and a bronze sleeve bearing on the bottom wheel. The top wheel is lubricated by a screw-in grease cup and the lower wheel is lubricated by two very large oil cups. The saw has only upper blade guide. The underside of the saw table shows no machining to accommodate a set of lower guides. This saw is not OSHA approved, due to the lack of blade protection, but I like it anyway! Since restoring this machine in 2002 I sold it to a fellow OWWM'er. He made further improvements, namely, machining a new lower wheel brass bearing in order to remove the play in the lower wheel.
